What actually gets set.
Short version: the calculator itself sets no cookies at all. Advertising is the only thing on this site that would, and it is not switched on yet.
Right now
As of 30 July 2026: no cookies are set by this site. Not by us, not by anyone else. The calculator stores your ledger in localStorage, which is not a cookie and is never transmitted.
Storage this site uses
| Name | Type | What it holds | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| sqftcalc_v1 | localStorage | Your area ledger and the material settings you last used. Never sent anywhere. | Until you clear it |
When advertising is switched on
We intend to run Google AdSense. When it is live, Google and its advertising partners set cookies from their own domains. In outline:
| Set by | Purpose | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdSense | Serving ads, frequency capping, fraud and invalid-traffic detection | Set even for non-personalised ads |
| Google AdSense | Ad personalisation and measurement | Only with consent where consent is required |
| Google advertising partners | Their own serving and measurement | Google publishes the current list |
Google maintains the authoritative list of its advertising cookies and partners at business.safety.google/privacy. When ads go live, this table will be replaced with the specific cookie names in use.
Turning them off
- In the EEA, UK and Switzerland a consent notice will appear before any ad request, and declining means no advertising cookies are set. Under those rules declining may mean no ads are shown at all.
- Anywhere you can block cookies in your browser settings, or use Google My Ad Center to switch off ad personalisation across every site Google serves.
- Blocking every cookie does not break the calculator. It has never needed one.
